Gubra

I wanted to write about this movie after watching it but well, I never did. The next thing I heard it won Best Picture recently. Good for the Gubra team! But whassup w/ Sh. Amani? Now I didn't see the live telecast, I only read the papers and heard from others. I don't know exactly what she said, maybe it got lost in translation or interpretation, but whatever it is, takkan nak ucap terima kasih to mak, ayah, crew pun tak boleh cakap melayu? And the last bit about ".....let's do it more often" - whassup with that? Siti jugak la yang bersopan santun, cakap tersusun and never fail to be politically correct.

You gotta ask!

In life, you gotta ask! I decided to write this when I was browsing through the many resumes that came in from our job ad in the papers. Yes, we've been trying to hire since beginning of the year. We interviewed a few candidates but none met the requirements. So we advertised a another round but that's besides the point. So as I browsed through the resumes, (I must say these are much better than the first round of applications), one "popped" up to me.

Firstly, yes, he's good looking :D, nice photo, second was his extensive experience in this field but it was more of the salary he asked for that caught my attention. Too much? No way! It was in fact too little. Why am I complaining? To an employer, this should be good news, right? Well..I'm not so sure. Something doesn't seem right here. Given his age and extensive years of experience he should be asking a whole lot more. Heck, he's should not even be applying for such junior post. I don't think he's desperate as he still has a job. Maybe he should have done his homework and check the market rate. Or maybe he has been stuck in a low paying job all this while that he thought what he asked is the market rate. Whatever his reasons, I'm sure he wouldn't mind getting more. Then why not ask for it? Why value himself so little? The imbalance between his age, experience and salary expectations makes his resume looks fishy. Not good.

In life I believe you gotta ask for what you want. Never mind if others don't think you deserve it. You'll never know the outcome unless you ask. Dream big, aim high, coz you're worth it!

Mascarpone Found!

I found my mascarpone flavored ice-cream in KL!!! It's the white scoop in the pic. Unfortunately, it didn't taste as good as the one in its homeland, of course. Oh well, the search continues... Posted by Picasa

Heaven's Bookstore

This is one of the recent foreign film I saw and liked. There was another one I saw "Riding Home Alone" something like that..but I didn't think much of it.

Heaven's bookstore is a love story. But done in a very artsy way. Not the regular sickening Yusof Haslam or any typical Malay or even Hollywood style. Sorry I took too long before blogging this that this film is no longer showing at GSC. If you bump into its VCD/DVD, give it a try! Posted by Picasa

My fave choc in tub!

Maltesers - one of my fave choc is now in a tub! And you know what, it tastes much much more yummy as an ice-cream than the original choc. I can finish the whole tub at one go. I usually can only handle 2 scoops of ice-cream in a day! Try it and let me know. You don't have to like Maltesers the choc to like the ice-cream. Posted by Picasa

Bad Bad Yummy Fat!

This is the most fat-iest lamb chop I've ever had. I specifically told the waiter I like fat. Yes, lemak! Then KM piled on more fat from his plate onto mine. In return, I gave him the meat I had, leaving me with literally fat chop as opposed to lamb chop. It was great! CN and gf thought I was nuts. Posted by Picasa

Mom & Chef

This pic was taken on Mother's Day. I took mom to Rebung. Thanks, Asha, for the direction. Harapkan owang Bangsar, tak angkat tepon! Err...busy making body "marks" ke? :D
Anyway, kiut tak my mom and Chef Ismail? Sama bulat, sama pink. Chef said so himself. Lepas tu he introduced my mom to his Datin friends.."Ni owang kampung den!" If not for those people, my mom would have joined Chef up on stage for his syok-sendiri-karaoke session. "I dah penat seharian masak, shooting, now I nak nyanyi senangkan hati"..and he sang and danced away sesuka hati.
"Senang hati tapi sorang!"
"Eh, sorang lagi bagus kak, tak pening kepala. Akak, nak lagu apa? Lagu joget, boleh?"
Seronok my mom dapat personal attention from famous Chef Ismail, the owner himself. Food best, pure Negoghi cruisine. Chef's PR skills memang bagus. Layan semua orang. Not that there were many people but he was super peramah! He even scolded his staff for calling my mom makcik. "Eh, kakak tu..apa pulak makcik!"
So it was a good Mother's Day treat. Me bad for taking so long to blog this. Thanks, Che Din. Ni sebab teruja with your entry la I searched for this photo. I thought I lost it. It was taken with the old phone. WO even said "Good-bye, nice knowing you!" coz I told him, "God, mom is gonna kill me, I lost her pic w/ Chef!"
All went well except for one thing...no sighting of the gorgeous business partner/model/orthopedic surgeon/astronaut-to-be yummy guy. Uwaaa!!! Che Din, tak adil!! Posted by Picasa
